making money online, webmaster, #1 tips

Build a page you'd love to work on even if you never made a penny. Don't do it for the money alone: it will show!

The amount of money you will make with your site is directly tied to the number of visitors you get. It doesn't matter how many programs you sign up for. Finding ways to increase the number of first-time visitors to your site is of utmost importance to your success. Then you must keep them coming back. Creating a feeling of community in which visitors feel they belong will do just that. The best way to create a true community is to offer an interactive experience for your visitors. Make them a vital part of what's going on at your site. Besides paying yourself for all your work running a website, there are creative uses for webpage income that will contribute to the success of your page: Offer cash prizes or gifts to contest winners. Buy a domain name and web hosting for a more professional looking site, and complete control over ads served. Buy cool software to enhance your web design. Buy site advertising in email newsletters or extra banner impressions. If you run an ezine, pay your contributors.

Kinds of income:
Affiliate programs. These can range from being a storefront for a product-seller, to redirecting a visitor to a site that shares its profit in the form of a commission to you, to pay-per-click advertising, to progams that offer rewards for each new member signing up with them through you.

Banner Ads. Place an advertising banner on your page and receive income for every thousand page views. Many programs will offer ads that are targeted to your site's category, and bonuses for click-throughs.

Paid-to-Surf programs. You can get paid for your own surfing. But, when you put a banner on your site, and your visitors sign up, you also receive a percentage of their paid-to-surf income.
Search engines that pay for each search made from your site.
Specialty merchandise. T-shirts, mugs and mousepads with your poetry site name & logo on them.

Submission fees. This is something to consider if you will be awarding cash contest prizes, or paying contributors on some other basis than a flat rate.
Unique programs that pay. Would you like to get paid when visitors leave your site? How about getting paid for every page-view?

Useful Tip:
If you run a mailing list, don't forget to advertise your sponsors in each email, as well as on your website.
